The Haunted River
The Haunted River  is the official web presence of the writer and publisher Christopher Barker.

Barker’s short stories have been compared favourably to those written by the highly regarded authors Walter de la Mare and Robert Aickman. His first collection entitled “Tenebrous Tales” is to be published by the Ex Occidente Press. Barker is currently working on a novel, a comedy series and a screenplay.

Under the imprint of ‘The Haunted River’ Barker edited and published the award nominated collections The Dreams Of Cardinal Vittorini & Other Strange Stories and The Complete Symphonies Of Adolf Hitler by Reggie Oliver in addition to two issues of a paperbound journal titled Weirdly Supernatural. These items sold-out and the profits were donated to the East Anglian Childrens’ Hospice.

Barker is an expert on gothic and supernatural fiction from the period 1850 to 1940. He collects books from this era in addition to obscure British horror films and television plays. He has two autistic children named after the principal characters from Charles Dickens’ “The Mystery Of Edwin Drood” and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby”. He is married to Selma with whom he also has a daughter, Alexandria (who was recently the runner-up in a national children’s short story competition judged by Jacqueline Wilson).

Christopher Barker has impeccable taste and eclectic interests. He occasionally has some news but this is usually very boring and self-centred.
